Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961) was an American novelist and short-story writer. In discussions of ranking metaphors online he is frequently cited for the Iceberg theory (theory of omission), which uses an iceberg's hidden mass as an analogy for deliberately unstated meaning in prose.
