Object labeling

Object labeling (also spelled object labelling) is a meme practice of annotating parts of a stock image with captions that map the picture onto another situation—coworkers, game bosses, emotions, and so on. It is a core exploitable technique.

Overlap with icebergs

Iceberg charts are essentially systematic object labelling applied to a maritime stock image: each vertical band receives topic-specific names. The same labelling habit appears in "starter pack" photos and political-compass shitposts.
