Viral chart

A viral chart is any ranked or plotted graphic that spreads widely beyond its original niche because the layout is easy to screenshot, joke about, or argue with. Iceberg charts and tier lists are frequent viral-chart families; political compasses and "starter pack" grids are relatives.

Mechanics

Virality usually hinges on (1) a recognisable template, (2) a topic people already care about, and (3) placements controversial enough to quote-tweet. Hosting on Imgur, Twitter/X, Reddit, or TikTok screenshots accelerates spread; YouTube then freezes a chart into a long-form artefact.
